PROVIDENCE, R.I. (October 8, 2012) - Rutgers women's soccer freshman midfielder Hayley Katkowski (Westford, Mass.) has been selected to the BIG EAST Weekly Honor Roll, the conference announced Monday.
The selection marks the first weekly honors for Katkowski this season. Four Scarlet Knights have been selected for six league honors in 2012.
Katkowski has made an immediate impact for RU in a holding midfield role. The rookie has started all 16 games - one of just three Scarlet Knights to do so this season - and is averaging over 92 minutes per contest. Over the weekend, Katkowski helped Rutgers to a 1-0-1 week, including a shutout victory at DePaul and a 2-2 draw at No. 24/25 Notre Dame.
Katkowski and the rest of the Scarlet Knights return to Piscataway this weekend for matches against Louisville and Cincinnati. The contest against the Cardinals, which will be a doubleheader with the men's team, is slated for 5:30 p.m. Two-time gold medalist Carli Lloyd will be honored at halftime and the game will serve as RU's annual Pink Game.
