WSOC Retains Top-10 Ranking by Soccer America

PISCATAWAY, N.J. (Oct. 21, 2014) - The Rutgers women's soccer team retained a top-10 ranking after nine weeks of play, as the Scarlet Knights were tabbed the No. 10 team in the nation by Soccer America.

Rutgers came in at No. 16 in the National Soccer Coaches Association of America (NSCAA) rankings, the third consecutive top-20 appearance for Rutgers in the NSCAA poll. In the TopDrawerSoccer rankings, the Scarlet Knights moved back three spots to No. 18.
The Scarlet Knights remained in the top 20 in RPI, holding the No. 17 spot. The RPI ranking is good for third in the Big Ten behind No. 4 Penn State and No. 13 Wisconsin.
With 22 points and the team currently tied for second in Big Ten Conference Play, the Scarlet Knights enter a crucial league weekend on the road at No. 12/12 Wisconsin (Oct. 24) and at Minnesota (Oct. 26). The Badgers and Scarlet Knights are among the teams tied for second, and will meet on the pitch for the third time in history. Wisconsin leads the series, 1-0-1.
Rutgers and Minnesota will meet for the first time since Sept. 29, 1995, as the Golden Gophers (16 points) sit in sixth place in the standings. RU leads Minnesota, 1-0, in the all-time series, winning 3-1 win in their only matchup.
