PISCATAWAY, N.J. (Oct. 27, 2014) - Bennett Rank identified the Rutgers women's soccer team as one of five surprise teams in the NCAA this season. The Scarlet Knights (11-4-1, 7-4-1 Big Ten) have been ranked as highly as No. 7 in the nation this year and have used stalwart defense all season long to stymie the opposition in its inaugural Big Ten season.
Bennett Rank tabs Rutgers as the No. 7 defense in the nation, as the Scarlet Knights entered last weekend sixth in GAA (0.46), ninth in save percentage (.875) and 15th in shutout percentage (.600). The team has posted nine shutouts, and in 16 matches, has allowed more than one goal to be scored just two times on the year.
