Men's X/C To Run in First B1G Championship

IOWA CITY, IA - Rutgers will run in its first Big Ten Men's Cross Country Championship on Sunday, Nov. 2 at the Ashton Cross Country Course in Iowa City, Iowa with 12 teams participating in the 8,000-meter (8K) race beginning at 12:45 p.m.

BTN will air the Big Ten Cross Country Championships on tape delay at 5 p.m. ET on Wednesday, Nov. 12.
The Scarlet Knights boast one of the youngest rosters in the championship with a squad featuring four freshmen among its top six runners. RU has progressively seen their times get faster as the season has gone on with the squad racing to its some of its top times of the season in their last outing two weeks ago at the Princeton Invitational.
Junior Jaimin Vekaria (Clinton, N.J.) has led Rutgers in the last three races, including a ninth place finish at the Metropolitan Championships and his top time of 25:38 on the 8K Princeton Invitational course. At the Metropolitan Championships at Van Cortlandt Park, Verkaria was within a minute of first place and shaved nearly two minutes off his time from when he ran the course to open the season at the Fordham Fiasco.
Freshmen Luke Wiley (Williamstown, N.J.) and Trent Brinkofski (Somerset, N.J.) have also been among the team's top finishers this fall. Wiley was RU's second faster runner at Princeton Invitational two weeks ago with a season-best time of 25:40 and placed 16th overall at the Metropolitan Championships. Brinkofski, meanwhile, made his Scarlet Knight debut as RU's top finisher at the Fordham Fiasco and placed 15th at the Metropolitan Championships in mid-October.
