WRES 2-0 at Rutgers Duals

NEW BRUNSWICK, N.J. - The Rutgers wrestling team kicked off the 2014-15 season with three wins Sunday at the Rutgers Duals. The Scarlet Knights posted eight falls, six technical falls and five major decisions in a dominant performance at the College Ave. Gym, defeating Centenary (49-3), Delaware Valley (38-6) and Stevens Institute of Technology (41-0).
Six Scarlet Knights made their debut in a Rutgers singlet Sunday, including redshirt freshman 125-pounder Josh Patrick (Rector, Pa.) , redshirt freshman 141-pounder Anthony Ashnault (South Plainfield, N.J.) , redshirt freshman 165-pounder Nicholas Gravina (Allendale, N.J.) , freshman 197-pounder Ralph Normandia (Somerset, N.J.) , redshirt sophomore 149-pounder Tyler Hunt (South Plainfield, N.J.) and redshirt freshman 184-pounder Taylor Jackson(Lady Lake, Fla.) .
In all, 19 of the 30 bouts wrestled by Rutgers were bonus point wins, as Ashnault, Normandia, Gravina, junior 149-pounder Ken Theobold (Toms River, N.J.) , redshirt junior 157-pounder Anthony Perrotti (Roseland, N.J.) , redshirt sophomore 174-pounder Phil Bakuckas (Hammonton, N.J.) and redshirt junior 285-pounder Billy Smith (Wantage, N.J.) all went a perfect 3-0 on the day.
Rutgers returns to the College Ave. Gym on Nov. 16 at 6 p.m. to face Hofstra.
