Volleyball Concludes Three-Game Road Swing

NEW BRUNSWICK, N.J. (Nov. 11, 2014) - The Rutgers women's volleyball team wraps up its three-game road swing at Indiana on Wednesday, Nov. 12, marking the second weekday contest of the season for the Scarlet Knights. The teams will take the court at University Gym for a 7 p.m. start.

LAST TIME OUT
Rutgers (7-20, 0-14 Big Ten) suffered two identical 3-0 losses on the road at then-No. 6 Penn State and then-No. 18 Ohio State. It marked the second weekend of the season that the Scarlet Knights had to face ranked opponents back-to-back.
Junior outside Alex Lassa (Eagle, Colo.) and sophomore middle Lauren Cloyd (Champaign, Ill.) led the Rutgers offense over the weekend, tallying seven kills apiece across both matches. Lassa delivered a team-high 27 attempts. The junior currently ranks sixth in the career record books with 2,969 total attempts.
On the defensive side, junior libero Ali Schroeter (Bakersfield, Calif.) paced the squad with a total of 14 digs between both games. Schroeter ranks fifth in the Big Ten with 4.26 digs per set.
SCOUTING INDIANA
Indiana (14-12, 5-8 Big Ten) enters the match on a three-game losing streak. The Hoosiers were defeated in five sets at Iowa last Wednesday, giving the Hawkeyes their fourth conference win of the year. Indiana then went on to a three-set loss at then-No. 13 Nebraska on Saturday night.
Offensively, junior outside Amelia Anderson leads the squad with 263 kills on the season, while sophomore setter Megan Tallman aids with a team-high 986 assists. Junior defensive specialist Courtney Harnish has dug up 402 opponent attacks this season to pace the squad.
Indiana is led by eight-year head coach Sherry Dunbar-Kruzan.
SERIES VS. INDIANA
Indiana maintains a 3-0 advantage in the all-time series against Rutgers.
The teams met earlier this season at the College Ave. Gym for a Sunday afternoon match on Oct. 5. The Scarlet Knights and Hoosiers traded points back-and-fourth from the onset, but Indiana edged Rutgers in the first two sets. Moving into the third, Indiana created a large margin to start the stanza, maintaining the lead throughout. The Hoosiers took the win in three sets by scores of 25-19, 25-21 and 25-10.
