Vekaria, Wiley Named All-IC4A

BRONX, N.Y. - The Rutgers men's cross country team wrapped up the 2014 season at the IC4A Championships at Van Cortlandt Park on Saturday. The Scarlet Knights placed seventh overall and were led by junior Jaimin Vekaria (Clinton, N.J.) and freshman Luke Wiley (Williamstown, N.J.), who were both named All-IC4A.
Vekaria, who earned top times for the Scarlet Knights at the Metropolitan Championship, Monmouth Invitational and Princeton Invitational earlier this season, was RU's top finisher again. He placed 20th with a time of 26:31.1.
Two freshmen followed Vekaria across the finish line with Wiley taking 24th in a time of 26:41.6 and Trent Brinkofski (Somerset, N.J.) in 36th with his time of 27:02.2.
"We had hoped to finish in the top five teams," said head coach Mike Mulqueen. "We fell short of that goal, however four of the seven runners ran lifetime bests on the course, which was great news. Also by placing in the top 25, Jaimin and Luke were named to the All-IC4A University Division."
Also racing for the Scarlet Knights were Daniel Lee (Plainsboro, N.J.) in 45th (27:13.2), Alexander Livernois (Scotch Plains, N.J.) in 61st (27:31.8), Sam Habib (Old Bridge, N.J.) in 75th (27:49.4) and Nicholas Price (Old Bridge, N.J.) in 91st (28:10.4).
