LEWISBURG, Pa. – Rutgers women’s golf is in first place with a 601 (300-301) total after day one of the Bucknell Invitational, played Saturday at the Bucknell Golf Club. Freshman Emily Mills (Colts Neck, N.J.), competing in her first collegiate event, enters Sunday’s final round in first place with a 146 (70-76).
The Invitational marks the initial outing of the fall season for the Scarlet Knights and the first tournament at the helm for Kari Williams. The new head coach had an impressive first day, with four Scarlet Knights listed among the top six competitors.
Mills performed like a seasoned veteran in her initial round on the college links, carding an even par 70 on the 5,998-yard course. It marked the event’s best round of the day. After posting a 76 in the afternoon, she holds a two-stroke advantage approaching the final 18 holes.
