Wright Earns Fourth B1G Weekly Honor

PISCATAWAY, N.J. - Sophomore Jason Wright (Kingston, Jamaica) picked up his fourth Big Ten Offensive Player of the Week honor on Tuesday after scoring both game-winners last week for the Rutgers, helping the Scarlet Knights to its longest win streak since 1997. RU picked up a 2-0 victory at Army West Point and a 1-0 win over No. 18 Ohio State to extend its win streak to six straight.
Wright, who also was named College Soccer News' National Player of the Week, put away the game-winner in the 20th minute at Army West Point and notched the lone goal in RU's upset of No. 18 Ohio State in the 74th minute to put the Scarlet Knights atop the Big Ten Conference standings.
On the year, Wright leads the Big Ten with 29 points, 13 goals and five-game winners. He currently has 54 points (23G, 8A) in his career - the most points in a Rutgers career since Kene Eze registered 52 points (22G, 8A) from 2011-13. Nationally, he is second in total goals, third in goals per game and fourth in total points.
It is the fourth weekly honor from the Big Ten for the Kingston, Jamaica native. Wright was named the league's Co-Offensive Player of the Week after kicking off the 2015 season with two goals, including the game-winner, in RU's 4-2 season opening victory over Siena. He was awarded his second conference's weekly award after capturing three points (1G, 1A) in the Scarlet Knights' 4-1 upset of then No. 22 Indiana on Sept. 20. Wright also earned Co-Offensive Player of the Week after collecting a hat trick against Yale and a golden goal at Michigan for the week ending Oct. 11.
The Rutgers men's soccer team has two regular season games left on the 2015 slate. RU hosts Nebraska-Omaha on Saturday, Oct. 31 at 1 p.m. in the regular season home finale and travels to Maryland to wrap up the regular season on Wednesday, Nov. 4 at 7 p.m.
