MSOC Hosts Nebraska-Omaha on Saturday

PISCATAWAY, N.J. - The Rutgers men's soccer team closes out the home and nonconference portion of its regular season schedule on Saturday, Oct. 31 against Nebraska-Omaha. The Scarlet Knights and Mavericks kickoff at 1 p.m. on BTN Plus with Glenn Crooks on the call.

SIX IN-A-ROW
The Scarlet Knights are currently riding a six-game win streak. During the streak, RU has outscored the opposition, 15-4, with goals from six different Scarlet Knights, and has outshot its opponents, 97-73.
RU is on its longest win streak since 1997, when the Scarlet Knights rattled off nine consecutive victories. That season, Rutgers went 14-7-2 overall and won the BIG EAST title.
HOME SWEET HOME
Rutgers closes out the home portion of its regular season slate on Saturday afternoon against the Mavericks. RU is 4-3-0 at Yurcak Field and have won its last two contests - a 5-2 victory over Yale and 1-0 shutout over No. 18 Ohio State - on its home pitch.
To date, the Scarlet Knights have outscored their opponents, 19-10, and outshot the opposition, 138-70, at home.
AWAY FROM HOME
The Scarlet Knights have won five-straight road contests which started with a 4-1 upset at then-No. 22 Indiana back on Sept. 20. It is the most consecutive road wins for the Scarlet Knights since the 1993 season. RU boasts a 6-1-1 record away from the friendly confines of Yurcak Field this season.

Entering the weekend, Jason Wright is the league leader in points (29) and goals (13) and game-winners (5).
Miles Hackett checks in tied for fourth in points (14) and tied for third in goals (6), while JP Correa is tied for second in game-winning goals (3) and tied for seventh in points (13) and 10th in goals (4). Correa and Erik Sa are both tied for third in assists (5).
NATIONALLY SPEAKING
As a team, Rutgers appears in the top 10 in six national categories including ranking fifth in points per game (6.87), sixth in assists per game (2.20) and scoring offense (2.33), eighth in total points (103) and ninth in total assists (33) and total goals (35).
Individually, Jason Wright ranks second in total goals (13), third in goals per game (0.87), fourth in total points (29), and sixth in points per game (1.93) and game-winning goals (5) among all Division I players.

ABOUT NEBRASKA - OMAHA
The Mavericks are one of the newest teams to the Division I field as the program began in the fall of 2011. In just its fourth season, Nebraska-Omaha finished at 10-5-2 overall and tied for first in the Summit League with 3-2-1 conference mark.
Nebraska-Omaha comes to Yurcak Field at 8-4-3 overall and 2-2-1 in the Summit League. The Mavericks are unbeaten in their last three contests, including a 2-2 draw with Missouri State at home on Wednesday night.
Logan Mendez leads the Mavericks with 16 points (6G, 4A) followed by Mark Moulton with 15 points (5G, 5A).
In goal, the Mavericks have used a combination of Joseph Ghitis and Josh Christensen. Christensen, who started Nebraska-Omaha's last two contests, is holding down a 1.27 goals against average and .775 save percentage. Ghitis, meanwhile, has logged both the Mavericks shutouts and is sporting a 0.88 goals against average and .784 save percentage.
COACHING CONNECTION
Rutgers head coach Dan Donigan was an assistant on the side lines when Nebraska-Omaha head coach Jason Mims played at St. Louis in 1997-99. Mims was a two-time All-Conference USA and NSCAA All-Midwest selection in Dongian's first season with the Billikens in 1997.
ON POINT
Jason Wright put away his team-leading 13th goal of the year and fifth game-winner of the year in RU's 1-0 victory over No. 18 Ohio State. He currently has 54 points (23G, 8A) in his career - the most points in a career since Kene Eze registered 52 points (22G, 8A) from 2011-13.
NEWS AROUND THE NET
Goalkeeper David Greczek is currently fourth all-time at Rutgers in saves. The junior has made 242 stops since stepping foot "On The Banks".
Among all active Division I goalkeepers, Greczek ranked 10th in career saves (242) and seventh in saves per game (4.65).
Greczek has registered 21 career games making five or more stops in his career and five contests with eight or more saves.
The junior netminder has six shutouts this season - Monmouth, Loyola, Michigan, Penn, Army West Point and Ohio State - and has recorded 13.5 shutouts in his career.
VS. THE TOP 25
Rutgers defeated its third ranked opponent of the season in the 1-0 victory over then-No. 18 Ohio State. The Scarlet Knights defeated then-No. 22 (NSCAA) Indiana, 4-1, on Sept. 20 and earned a 1-0 victory at No. 25 (CSN) Michigan on Oct. 10.
TO THE TOP OF THE STANDINGS
Following a 1-0 win over No. 18 Ohio State last Sunday, the Rutgers men's soccer team moved into first place in the Big Ten standings. The Scarlet Knights boast 12 points with their 4-3-0 conference record with one game left to play in the league. Ohio State is in second place with 10 points, followed by Maryland and Northwestern with nine points each. OSU, MD and Northwestern all have two Big Ten contests remaining on their slates.
RU will keep an eye on this weekend's other Big Ten contests which will have ramifications where the Scarlet Knights will finish.
