Vekaria name Big Ten Sportsmanship Honoree

PISCATAWAY, N.J. - Senior Jaimin Vekaria (Clinton, N.J.) was named one of the 14 Sportsmanship Award honorees by the Big Ten Conference, it was announced by the conference office.
The Big Ten Sportsmanship award winners are individuals who have distinguished themselves through sportsmanship and ethical behavior. These students-athletes must also be in good academic standing and have demonstrated good citizenship outside of the sports-competition setting.
Vekaria was the third Scarlet Knight to cross the finish line at the Big Ten Championships, completing the race with a time of 25;12.6.
Vekaria competed in five events during the season, which included RU's third-place finish at the Metropolitan Championships on Oct. 9, the highest finish for Rutgers at the event in six years. Vekaria registered his best finish during the Met Championships with a 11th-place time of 27:02.8
The Rutgers men's cross country team returns at the NCAA Mid-Atlantic Regional. The regional will be held on Friday, Nov. 13 at the West Windsor Fields in Princeton, N.J.
