Skroski, Reed Named to TDS Team of the Week

PISCATAWAY, N.J. - Rutgers women's soccer senior center backs Brianne Reed (Tinton Falls, N.J.) and Erica Skroski (Galloway, N.J.) were named to the TopDrawerSoccer.com Team of the Week, announced Tuesday. Reed and Skroski each played the full 110 minutes of Rutgers' shutout of No. 1-ranked and national offensive leader Virginia last Friday in the NCAA Tournament Quarterfinals.
The shutout was the Scarlet Knights' (19-3-3) nation-leading 19th of the season and Virginia's first time being held scoreless since last year's national title match.
Reed and Skroski are among numerous TDS weekly honorees this season. Reed was named to the TDS Team of the Week on Nov. 24, with Colby Ciarrocca (Montgomery, N.J.) joining her on the Honorable Mention list. Sophomore goalkeeper Casey Murphy (Bridgewater, N.J.) earned the title of TopDrawerSoccer.com Player of the Week on Oct. 20, while Skroski made the squad on Sept. 8. Ciarrocca was also named honorable mention on Oct. 20.
No. 9 Rutgers travels to Cary, N.C. for its first trip to the Women's College Cup. The Scarlet Knights will square off with No. 6 Penn State (20-3-2) on Friday, Dec. 4 at 5 p.m. in the College Cup semifinals, with the winner advancing to play for a national championship against No. 2 Florida State (18-2-4) or No. 20 Duke (13-5-5).
All three matches of the 2015 Women's College Cup will be televised live on ESPNU.
