Piscataway, N.J. - Rutgers University Head Women's Golf Coach Kari Williams announced today that Carrie-Ann Lee (Kent, Conn.) and Ashleigh Greenham (London, England), have each signed to compete for the Scarlet Knights.
"We are very excited to welcome Carrie-Ann and Ashleigh to the R Family," said Williams. "They are both incredibly talented and diligent student-athletes, with proven success on the course and in the classroom. We expect both Carrie-Ann and Ashleigh an immediate impact on our team, where we look to improve upon our tournament performances in addition to maintaining one of the highest program GPAs across Rutgers Athletics. We look forward to having Carrie-Ann and Ashleigh join us 'On the Banks'!"
Lee has been a standout at the Kent School in Connecticut, excelling in the classroom and as one of the leading scorers on the boys' varsity golf team. She had a breakout summer this year, earning several top-finishes on the CTPGA circuit, including a win at the Cas Coscina Memorial Junior Open (73-75) and a fourth-place finish at the Northern Junior Championship (76-72). On the national level, Lee earned a top-20 finish at the Optimist International Junior Championship (77-76-77-73) in Florida against some of the top talent in the country.
Greenham was a top-ranked junior out of Europe when she signed with Arizona State University in the fall of 2014. She represented England in a U16 match-up against Spain and was a two time Essex Girls Champion. After graduating from the Forest School, the golf program changed the name of its champion cup to the Greenham Cup. She competed for the Sun Devils in 2014-2015 and registered a 78.0 scoring average. Greenham placed 29th at the 2015 Clover Cup, which was her best finish of the season. She shot a collegiate best 74 at the 2014 Pac-12 preview.
The Scarlet Knights open their spring season at the 2016 Fresno (Calif.) State Classic, March 6-8. RU is looking to build off a successful fall campaign that saw the team card a program-record 292 round en route to a team record 893 (298-303-292) total at the Johnie Imes Invitational in late September.
