MORGANTOWN, W.Va. - Participating in its second road contest this weekend, Rutgers gymnastics scored a 194.825 to place third in a quad meet Sunday at the WVU Coliseum on the campus of West Virginia. Maryland (195.350) finished first in the meet, the Mountaineers (195.200) placed second and No. 25 New Hampshire (194.100) rounded out the team competition. RU's 194.825 marks the second highest team total of the season.

"I thought it was a strong meet today," head coach Louis Levine said. "We started off well again and this time finished on beam. I know we have a team capable of putting up big scores, it is about putting all four events together."
The Scarlet Knights started the meet on floor exercise, landing a team score of 48.825. Five competitors went for at least a 9.700 for Rutgers, led by sophomore Claire Jones (Gaffney, S.C.), who produced a 9.825 score. For Jones, it was the sixth time in as many attempts that she scored at least a 9.800 in the event. Sophomore Charly Santagado (Celebration, Fla.) also impressed, tying a season-high individual mark of 9.800. Senior Emma Hoffman (Union, N.J.) (9.750), freshman Jenna Crisalli (Freehold, N.J.) (9.750) and freshman Elizabeth Groden (Abbottstown, Pa.) (9.700) also crossed the 9.700 threshold.
Rutgers also secured a 48.825 on balance beam, its second highest team beam total this season. Senior Jenna Williams (Bordentown, N.J.) and Jones each executed 9.825 routines, the highest individual beam totals of the quad meet. Senior Luisa Leal (Cali, Colombia), junior Claudia Salinas (Allendale, N.J.) and Groden all landed 9.725 scores to help the Scarlet Knights.
On vault, Leal led the way for Rutgers with a 9.800 routine. Williams landed a 9.750 while senior Sara Skammer (Dallas, Pa.), junior Nicolette Wilson (Toms River, N.J.) and sophomore April Baker (Andover, Mass.) all produced 9.725 totals en route to a 48.725 team score.
Williams was strong on uneven bars for the Scarlet Knights, landing a 9.850 in the event for the second consecutive meet. Her score was the second highest mark in the quad meet. Santagado also went over the 9.800 mark, executing a 9.825 routine, the third highest score in the quad meet. Baker (9.775) and Skammer (9.750) helped Rutgers secure a 48.450 uneven bar team score.
For the third consecutive meet, Groden competed all-around, securing a 38.075 total for the second best all-around score of the meet.
RU will compete on the road next weekend against Towson and Michigan State at Towson Feb. 27 at 7 p.m.
