WGLF Concludes Day Two at Kiawah

KIAWAH ISLAND, S.C. - The Rutgers women's golf team is in 23rd place with a 635 (319-316) total after the opening two rounds of the 40-team Edwin Watts/Kiawah Island Spring Classic, played Sunday and Monday at the Kiawah Island Golf Resort. Freshman Emily Mills paces the Scarlet Knights through 36 holes with a 158 (80-78) to enter Tuesday's final round tied for 67th in the 210-player field.
Junior Racquel Zurick joined Mills under 80 on day two, carding a 79 to total a 160. She is tied with freshman Tatum Jackson (80-80=160) in 92nd place.
Sophomore Christina Paulsen and junior Jacquelyn Mullens comprised the rest of the Scarlet scorecard. After posting a team-best 78 on Monday, Paulsen is tied for 156th with a 167. Mullens improved by ten strokes on Tuesday, shooting a 79 to sit tied for 160th with a 168.
The Classic, tabbed as the largest collegiate golf tournament in the country, is the initial event of the spring season for the Scarlet Knights under first-year head coach Kari Williams.
Host College of Charleston, currently ranked No. 68 in the latest Golfstat.com rankings, is atop the leaderboard with a 588 (300-288), 10 strokes ahead of second place Troy. North Florida is in the show position with a 601.
College of Charleston's Laura Fuenfstueck, with a 141 (70-71), holds a one stroke advantage over Samford's Bailey Gray.
The Scarlet Knights conclude play tomorrow, competing for a flight championship on the par-72, 5,901-yard course at Oak Point course. Results are available here.
