NEWTOWN SQUARE, Pa. -- Rutgers men's golf is tied for seventh with a 301 total after the first round of the 13-team Princeton Invitational, played Saturday at Aronimink Golf Club. Freshman Toks Pedro paced the Scarlet Knights with a one-over par 71 to enter Sunday tied for fifth in the 72-player field.
Junior Louis Bodine also performed well to conclude day one among the top 20 in 18th place with a 74.
Freshman Jack Panagos and Matt Holuta and senior Jacob Stockl comprise the rest of the RU scorecard. Panagos and Holuta are tied for 40th with 78's, while Stockl is tied for 50th with a 79.
Yale is in first place with an 11-over 291, four strokes ahead of second place Temple. Penn is in the show position with a 296.
Temple's Brandon Matthews is atop the leaderboard with a two-under 68, one stroke better than Mike Graboyes of Cornell.
Other competing teams are Brown, Dartmouth, Georgetown, host Princeton, Rider, St. John's, Saint Joseph's and Seton Hall.
The tournament concludes on Sunday, but moves locations and will be played at Merion Golf Club's East Course in Ardmore, Pa. First tee for the Scarlet Knights is at 12:20.
