MGLF Places 4th at Princeton Invite

ARDMORE, Pa. -- Rutgers men's golf placed fourth with a 590 (301-289) total at the 13-team Princeton Invitational, completed Sunday at Merion Golf Club's East Course. Freshman Toks Pedro paced the Scarlet Knights with a two-over par 142 (71-71) to finish tied for fourth in the 72-player field.
Pedro was even in par four scoring, the top effort among all competitors, and also had a tournament-best eight birdies. His effort helped the Scarlet Knights improve three places in the final standings after Saturday's opening round, which was played at Aronimink Golf Club.
Freshman Jack Panagos also placed among the top 25. He carded a 72 on Sunday to finish tied for 24th with a 150.
Junior Louis Bodine (74-77) and senior Jacob Stockl (79-72) also performed well and tied for 27th with 151 totals. Bodine had the event's only eagle, while both he and Stockl were minus two in par five scoring.
Freshman Matt Holuta completed the RU scorecard. He tied for 34th with a 152 (78-74) and was a team-best plus-two on par threes.
Yale earned victory with and 11-over par 571 (291-80), 15 strokes ahead of second place Temple and Seton Hall, both with 586 team scorecards. The Bulldogs had four players in the top ten.
Temple's Brandon Matthews earned individual medalist honors with a one-under 139 (68-71).
Other competing teams included Brown, Dartmouth, Georgetown, host Princeton, Rider, St. John's and Saint Joseph's.
