NEWBURGH, Ind. -- Rutgers men's golf is in 14th place after the opening round of the Big Ten Championships, played Friday at Victoria National Golf Club. Freshman Toks Pedro paced the Scarlet Knights through 18 holes, carding a 78 to enter the second round tied for 53rd in the 70-player field.
The Championship was scheduled for two rounds on Friday, but frost delayed the initial 18. While all 14 teams completed the first round, only a few teams were able to complete the second 18 due to suspended play at sunset.

Through the first round, Iowa leads the way with an eight-under par score of 280, followed by Illinois with a tally of 284. On the individual leaderboard, Iowa's Carson Schaake (-7) and Ian Vandersee (-5) sit in first and second place, respectively.
Round two will resume at 8 a.m. CT Saturday morning, while round three will begin at 8:30 a.m. CT.
