Final Four Volunteering

TAMPA, Fla. - Rutgers assistant coach Chelsea Newton was among the 25 women's basketball coaches from across the nation, representing 10 conferences, who came together during the NCAA Women's Final Four in Tampa, Florida to volunteer with Habitat for Humanity.
The project was organized by former Scarlet Knight Courtney Locke, a member of the Scarlet Knights from 2002-06 and a current assistant coach at Lipscomb University in Nashville, Tennessee.
"In talking to some of my closest colleagues we wanted to give back to the city that is hosting the Final Four and do it together which has never been done before," said Locke.
The volunteers spent time with the Habitat for Humanity of Hillsborough County's ReStore Warehouse during the Friday of Final Four weekend.
Also joining Newton and Locke were former Scarlet Knights Myia McCurdy (2006-10) and Heather Zurich (2005-09) along with former student manager Matt Schiff.
"We always come to the Final Four for basketball and professional development, but now we have an opportunity to give some of our time and help give back to those in need," said Newton of the project. "This is my first time working with Habitat for Humanity and it has been a great experience to see the amazing work they do."
