PISCATAWAY, N.J. - Rutgers head women's golf coach Kari Williams today announced that Astrid Aneman and Kirsten Campbell will compete for the Scarlet Knights. Both international students, Aneman is a freshman from Stockholm, Sweden, while Campbell is a sophomore transfer from Dallas Baptist University who hails from Johannesburg, South Africa.
"We are very excited to welcome Astrid and Kirsten into the RU women's golf family," said Williams. "Astrid is a very talented athlete, who not only excels on the course, but on the soccer pitch as well. Kirsten arrives with solid collegiate experience. We expect her to make an immediate impact. Both Astrid and Kirsten will help us to improve and compete in the Big Ten Conference."
Aneman, who signed a National Letter of Intent, competed in Sweden's junior golf program, which is regarded as one of the best in the world. She averaged 78.2 strokes-per-round, culminating in a spot on her club team and competing at the Swedish Junior Team Championships finals in Portugal.
Campbell competed in five tournaments as a freshman at Dallas Baptist in the fall of 2014 and had a 78.58 stroke average. She tied for seventh out of 31 competitors with a 152 (79-73) at the NCCAA Central Regional and 15th out of 45 entries at the NCCAA Championships.
Aneman and Campbell join a team that was one of three Rutgers University programs, joined by football and women's lacrosse, to receive public recognition from the NCAA for its multiyear Academic Progress Rate (APR) score last month. The Scarlet Knights earned a perfect 1,000 multiyear score for a third consecutive year.
