Longa Named to Lombardi Award Watch List

PISCATAWAY, N.J. (July 14, 2015) -Rutgers redshirt junior linebacker Steve Longa was named to the watch list for the Lombardi Award, the Rotary Club of Houston announced Tuesday. The award is given annually to the college football lineman or linebacker who, in addition to outstanding performance and ability, best exemplifies the discipline of Vince Lombardi.
The Saddle Brook, N.J. native has started all 26 games in his two seasons of action at Rutgers. He has led the team in tackles each season, with 102 tackles in 2014 after making 123 stops as a freshman in 2013. Last season, Longa totaled 4.5 stops for loss with two sacks, and recorded 10 tackles in a game three times.
Former Rutgers offensive lineman Kaleb Johnson was named to the Lombardi Award Watch List last season.
