On Wednesday, Mills birdied the 18th hole for the second time in three rounds to secure a position in the match play. She enters Thursday tied for 10th at plus-16. From a field of 91 competing in stroke play, just 16 qualified.
Through the initial three rounds, Mills has four birdies, 32 pars and is even on par fives.
The stories of champions and the traditions of championship golf have been created at Pinehurst since 1898. As the site of more championships than any other golf course in the country, Pinehurst hosted 14 days of championship play in 2014, with back to back U.S. Open and U.S. Women's Open Championships for the first time in their history.
Nine of the last 12 North & South Women's Amateur champions have drawn paychecks as members of the LPGA Tour.
Mills was named a 2014-15 Women's Golf Coaches Association (WGCA) Division I All-America Scholar earlier this month. Competing in her first collegiate event in September, she shot a 220 to win the season-opening Bucknell Invitational.
