WSOC Downs Lehigh in Exhibition, Hosts Syracuse Saturday

PISCATAWAY, N.J.- The Rutgers women's soccer team topped Lehigh in exhibition action Wednesday night in Bethlehem, Pa., by a 2-0 final. Junior Jessica Puchalski (South Brunswick, N.J.) and sophomore Colby Ciarrocca (Montgomery, N.J.) provided the offense for the Scarlet Knights in the win.
The defense had a solid outing as well in the shutout victory, as sophomore goalkeeper Brianna Scarola (Chester, N.J.) played the full time in net.
All seven newcomers - Ciarrocca, Adora Moneme (Union, N.J.),Christy Monroy (Scotch Plains, N.J.), Cassandra Taniguchi (San Diego, Calif.), Nicole Wagner (Chester, N.Y.), Katelyn Walters (Mount Laurel, N.J.), and Kenie Wright (Mount Laurel, N.J.) - saw their first college soccer action as Scarlet Knights in the exhibition event.
Rutgers hosts Syracuse on Saturday, Aug. 15 at 5:30 p.m. at Yurcak Field in its final exhibition match of the spring. Admission is free for fans interested in attending.
RU opens the regular season at the Penn State Tournament on Friday, Aug. 21 against Loyola Marymount.
