Men's Golf Finishes Second at Rutgers Invitational

PISCATAWAY, N.J. - The Rutgers men's golf team finished second with a six-over-par 858 (284-285-289) scorecard Saturday afternoon at the Rutgers Invitational.
Towson captured the team title with a 14-under-par 838 (277-283-278), while La Salle finished the tournament in third with an 860 (292-283-285). La Salle's PJ Acierno finished as the individual champion of the 84-player-field.
Sophomore Matt Holuta (Indiana, Pa.) led the first team with a T-seventh score of 212 (71-71-70), completing the tournament with a -1 scorecard. Holuta recorded a first-team low of 70 in the third round for RU. Senior Louis Bodine (Flemington, N.J.), competing with the second team, also finished seventh with a 212 (72-71-69), scoring a hole-in-one on the 11th hole during the third round.
Sophomore Toks Pedro (Lagos, Nigeria) just missed a top-10 finish, placing T-11th with a 215 (72-70-73) scorecard for the first team. Pedro contributed a two-over-par cumulative performance to the team's scorecard.
Junior Chase Wheatley (Corona del Mar, Calif.) completed the tournament T-19th with a 217 (75-69-73), while senior Jonathan Chang (Valencia, Calif.) added a T-20th score of 219 (70-76-73). Sophomore Jack Panagos (Hillsborough, N.J.) rounded out the team scoring, finishing T-28th with a 221 (71-75-75).
For the second team, junior Ryan Rose (Ho-Ho-Kus, N.J.) finished the tournament in 21st with a 218 (74-72-72). Freshmen Matthew Walsh (Western Springs, Ill.) and Matthew Mourin (Weston, Fla.) and junior Michael Howe (Temecula, Fla.) also competed for the Scarlet Knights in the tournament.
RU returns to the course Sept. 21-22, when the Scarlet Knights compete in the Hartford Hawks Invitational in South Kent, Conn.
