Women's Golf Victorious in Ireland

COUNTY KERRY, Ireland - Women's golf combined for 22.5 points to defeat Richmond (18.5) and College Cork (3) in match play on Sunday and Monday at the Waterville Golf Links in County Kerry, Ireland. The Scarlet Knights won the match 4.5-3.5 over the Spiders and 7-0 over Cork on Monday to return home with both NCAA and international victories.
"The matches were tighter today and very competitive to the very end," said head coach Kari Williams. "Our players needed to battle for every point and we were able to come out with the win. This match-play event was a great challenge for all of our players and I saw their games develop on the course this week."
Freshman Carrie-Ann Lee won 1-up over Richmond and 2&1 over Cork on Monday to secure victories in all four matches of the event. Juniors Emily Mills and Tatum Jackson and sophomore Astrid Aneman won both matches on Monday to each conclude the trip with three victories.
After two wins on Sunday, freshman Ana Maria Cortes halved her match with UR and earned a 3&2 over Cork on Monday. Redshirt sophomore Ashleigh Greenham followed a pair of day one wins by capturing an additional victory over Cork on day two.
Senior Maddy Gedeon and freshman Megan Hou also competed for the Scarlet Knights and earned multiple victories

Match play scoring consists of individual holes won, halved or lost, rather than overall strokes. On each hole, the most that can be gained is one point. Competitors play as normal, counting the strokes taken on a given hole. The winner is the competitor with the highest point total at the conclusion of the round.
