Doubleheader Begins With Women's Basketball vs. Bucknell

PISCATAWAY, N.J. - The Rutgers women's basketball team's homestand continues with a Saturday afternoon tilt with the Bucknell Bison at 2 p.m. in the first game of a basketball doubleheader with the men at the RAC.

LOOKING TO MAKE THE REBOUND
Rutgers is on the third game of a four-game homestand and in the midst of playing four games over the span of seven days RU will be looking to put its 68-32 loss to Duke in the ACC/Big Ten Challenge on Thursday behind them as they meet the Bison for the first time in school history.
Against the Blue Devils, RU was led by Aliyah Jeune with eight points, followed by Shrita Parker with seven points and Kandiss Barber with six points and eight rebounds from off the bench. Khadiazha Sanders added in six assists, one helper shy of tying her career mark.
ABOUT BUCKNELL
The Bison are 5-2 on the season and have won two-straight with a 78-66 win over Drexel and more recently, a 61-47 victory at Akron on Wednesday.
On the stat sheet, Bucknell is led by Kaitlyn Slagus at 15.1 ppg and 10.3 rpg. She is followed by Claire DeBoer, the Preseason Patriot League Player of the Year, at 13.9 ppg and 8.4 rpg. Sune Swart rounds out the Bucknell double figure scorers at 12.6 ppg to go along with 7.1 rpg.
Against the Zips, Swart led all scorers with 17 points while Slagus posted her fourth double-double of the season with 13 points and 11 rebounds.
Bucknell was picked first in the Preseason Patriot League Poll. Last season they captured a 25-8 overall record and finished with a 17-1 Patriot League mark. The Bison reached the season round of the WNIT after a 74-70 win at Akron in the first round before falling 95-72 at Michigan.
UP NEXT
Rutgers has three games on deck next week. The Scarlet Knights close out the homestand with Colonial Athletic Association champions, James Madison, on Monday at 7 p.m. at the RAC and are back on the road to meet St. John's on Wednesday, Dec. 5 and Houston on Saturday, Dec. 10.
