PISCATAWAY, N.J. - The Rutgers men's cross country team was recognized for its efforts in the classroom as the Scarlet Knights were named a U.S. Track & Field and Cross Country Coaches Association (USTFCCCA) All-Academic Team for the 2015 season.
RU was among the 90 men's programs that earned All-Academic Team honors. To qualify for the honor, teams must carry at least a 3.0 cumulative grade point average.
"Our 2015 cross country team had its best season in a few years, placing third at the Metropolitan Championships, 13th in the NCAA Regional and second in the IC4A University Championship race," said head coach Mike Mulqueen. "By earning this academic All-American award, it shows the athletes worked just as hard in the classroom as they did with their running."
The team, comprised of Trent Brinkofski (Somerset, N.J.), Anthony Horton (Moorestown, N.J.), Kian Jackson (Plainsboro, N.J.), Alexander Livernois (Scotch Plains, N.J.), Dominick Munson (Erial N.J.), Conor Murphy (Millstown, N.J.), Nick Price (Old Bridge, N.J.), Jaimin Vekaria (Clinton, N.J.) and Luke Wiley (Williamstown, N.J.), finished with a cumulative grade point average of 3.34.
