Freeman Suspended from Basketball Activities

PISCATAWAY, N.J. - Rutgers head coach Eddie Jordan today announced that junior forward Deshawn Freeman has been suspended indefinitely from basketball activities for a failure to meet team expectations.
"To build a winning program, all of our student-athletes must commit to be successful academically, personally and athletically," said Jordan. "Deshawn has not met these expectations in a consistent manner. He has the opportunity to return to basketball activities once he does."
Freeman played in the first seven games, averaging 13.1 points and 5.3 rebounds, before being sidelined by a knee injury. Jordan stated on Jan. 18 that Freeman would not return to game action this season.
Rutgers will have no further comment on this matter.
