PISCATAWAY, N.J. - Prior to Rutgers win at Monmouth Saturday afternoon, the team was graced with a special visitor at its pregame meal. Dr. Charles Zukaukas, who lettered in lacrosse at Rutgers in 1941 and 1942, spoke to the team prior to the game.
This spring marks the 75th anniversary of Zukaukas receiving his first varsity letter. He played both football and lacrosse at Rutgers. After graduating Rutgers, Zukaukas earned a medical degree and became the Chief of Surgery at Monmouth Medical Center and the President of the New Jersey Chapter of the American College of Surgeons.
Zukaukas will be honored at Alumni Appreciation Day this season, which will take place on April 22nd as Rutgers takes on Penn State.
