INDIANAPOLIS, Ind. - Rutgers women's golf is 11th with a 585 (287-298) total after two rounds of the Big Ten Championship, played Friday and Saturday at The Fort Golf Resort. Sophomore Emily Mills continued her strong play on day two and enters Sunday's final round tied for second with a 139 (67-72) total in the 83-player field.
"I was very proud of how the team maintained its composure and backed up our program-best round with another great day of golf," said head coach Kari Williams. "Having all six players post a score under 80 shows the growth we have made over the season. Emily continued her strong play today and is in great position to contend for the individual title in tomorrow's final round."
After opening with a personal best round of 67 on Friday, Mills shot even par on Saturday and is just two strokes off the pace. She leads the tournament in par four scoring (-4) and is tied for third in birdies with nine to her credit. Mills has only two bogeys and one double-bogey through 36 holes.
Senior Jacquelyn Mullens is also among the top 20 competitors. She is tied for 16th with a 144 (70-74) and is plus one in par four scoring.
Senior Racquel Zurick, sophomore Tatum Jackson, senior Christina Paulsen and freshman Astrid Aneman comprise the rest of the RU scorecard at the Championship, which enables a six-player format with four scores counting. Zurick is tied for 46th with a 149 (73-76), Jackson is tied for 70th with a 154 (78-76), Paulsen is tied for 75th with a 155 (77-78) and Aneman is tied for 81st with a 160 (81-79).
