Huang Named NFCA All-Region

LOUISVILLE, Ky. (May 19, 2016) - Senior Stephanie Huang (Paramus, N.J.) was named to the 2016 National Fastpitch Coaches Association (NFCA) Division I All-Great Lakes Region Second Team at second base, the organization announced Thursday.
The awards honor softball student-athletes from the association's 10 regions with first, second team and third selections. NFCA member coaches from each respective region voted on the teams, and all the honorees now become eligible for selection to the 2016 NFCA Division I All-American squads.
Huang started all 57 games at second base, maintaining a .359 batting average as the leadoff hitter and a .448 on base percentage. The Paramus, N.J., native led the Scarlet Knight stat sheet in hits (65), walks (29), runs (37) and at bats (181). Huang added her name to the Rutgers all-time single season charts, ranking second with her 65 hits. Overall, Huang posted a team-best 18 multiple hit games, including six with three or more hits, as well as five multiple RBI games.
On March 21, Huang picked up her first Big Ten Player of the Week honor, after producing a .619 batting average (13-for-21) to guide RU to a 5-2 record on the week. Huang reset single-game career-highs in hits (4), doubles (2) and walks (3) along the way. Highlighting her career performance, Huang nearly hit for the cycle with two singles, a double, and a triple for a career-high four hits in the 10-1 victory over Florida International.
