2016-17 Schedule
PISCATAWAY, N.J. - Rutgers women's basketball unveiled its 2016-17 schedule, which features 20 opponents who reached either the NCAA Tournament or WNIT Postseason Tournament along with the 16-game Big Ten Conference slate. Highlighting the nonconference schedule are three conference champions and in-state rivals, Princeton and Seton Hall.
The 2016-17 schedule will get underway with an afternoon doubleheader with the Rutgers men's team as the Scarlet Knights host Chattanooga on Nov. 11. The Mocs are the defending Southern Conference Champions.
Following the season opener, RU hits the road for its next four contests. The Scarlet Knights meet a trio of WNIT Postseason participants in Elon (Nov. 14), Wake Forest (Nov. 17) and Virginia (Nov. 20). The meeting between RU and the Cavaliers marks a rematch of last season's WNIT Second Round game. Rutgers will also make the trek down Route 1 to face NCAA contestant Princeton (Nov. 25) on Thanksgiving Weekend.
RU returns home to the RAC for its next four games. The Scarlet Knights welcome Bryant (Nov. 27) before gearing up for the annual ACC/Big Ten Challenge with Duke coming to Piscataway on Dec. 1. The nonconference slate continues with two NCAA Tournament Second Round participants, Bucknell (Dec. 3) and Colonial Athletic Association Champion, James Madison (Dec. 5).
After road games with Big East Champions, St. John's (Dec. 7), and Houston (Dec. 10), the Scarlet Knights close out the nonconference slate hosting Seton Hall (Dec. 13), a team that reached the second round of the NCAA Tournament, and Temple (Dec. 17), a WNIT quarterfinalist.
