PISCATAWAY, N.J. – Seniors David Greczek and Ross Tetro both earned weekly men's soccer honors on Tuesday. Greczek was named Big Ten Defensive Player of the Week, while Tetro was named to Top Drawer Soccer's Team of the Week.
Greczek made a season-high nine saves last Friday night to help the Scarlet Knights to a 0-0 draw with then-No. 4 Indiana. The nine saves, which are the most by a Big Ten keeper in a game this season, also moved the senior into a sole possession of second place on Rutgers' career save leaders this. Greczek also posted his first shutout of the season and 16th of his career in the stalemate. Thru seven games, Greczek is averaging 5.71 saves per game and is the nation's active career leader in saves with 311 stops.
Tetro came up with his second goal line saves in as many games to deny the Hoosiers from scoring a golden goal in the closing minutes of the first overtime. His defensive save comes on the heels of appearing on Sport Center's Top Ten Plays of the Day on Sept. 13 after making a goal line save against then-No. 4 Maryland.
The Rutgers men's soccer team is back in action Tuesday night hosting No. 15 Florida Gulf Coast at 7 p.m. Follow Rutgers Athletics on Facebook (www.facebook.com/RutgersMensSoccer) and Twitter (www.twitter.com/RUMensSoccer) for all of the latest news and updates.
