Women’s Golf Places 7th at Edean Ihlanfeldt

SAMMAMISH, Wash. – Women's golf placed seventh with a 616 (305-311-303) total at the Edean Ihlanfeldt Invitational, played Tuesday and Wednesday at Sahalee Country Club. Rookies Harriet Allsebrook and Lori Char both carded their best rounds of the tournament, shooting even par 72 and 77 respectively, to help the Scarlet Knights finish strong.
Senior Emily Mills was RU's top competitor on the 5,980-yard course. The co-captain posted 225 (73-74-78) to finish tied for 16th in the 63-player field. Mills' performance was boosted by six birdies and 34 pars.
"Our freshmen showed promise today," said head coach Kari Williams. "Harriet bounced back with a solid round of even par and after a tough start, Lori finished her final seven holes at two under. Emily held on for a top-20 finish this week against a strong field. We are looking forward to two weeks at home to practice and prepare for a strong finish in our final event of the fall season."
Fueled by a team-best nine birdies, Allsebrook placed 26th with a 229 (79-78-72) on the course consistently ranked among the top 100 in America by Golf Digest.
Senior Tatum Jackson, redshirt junior Ashleigh Greenham and Char rounded-out the team scorecard. Jackson tied for 34th with a 234 (72-81-81), Greenham tied for 38th with a 160 (81-79-76) and Char tied for 49th with a 243 (82-84-77). Greenham registered an eagle on a par five Wednesday, one of four recorded during the tournament.
Host Washington won the Invitational with an 871 (289-286-296), besting second-place and Pac 12 Conference rival Colorado by two strokes. BYU's Kendra Dalton earned individual medalist honors after shooting a four-under 212 (70-66-76).
Rutgers, which finished just two strokes out of fifth place and one out of sixth, placed ahead of Georgetown, Idaho, Seattle and Colorado State.
The Scarlet Knights conclude their fall season at the Idle Invitational, Oct. 30-31, in Macon Ga.
