Rutgers and St. John’s to play Charity Basketball Exhibition on Nov. 5

PISCATAWAY, N.J. - The Rutgers and St. John's men's basketball teams will square off in a charity exhibition game on Sunday, Nov. 5, at the Rutgers Athletic Center, both schools announced today. All net proceeds from the contest, which will tip-off at 1 p.m., will be donated to American Red Cross Disaster Relief.

"This is a tremendous opportunity to support a very important cause through the game of basketball," said Rutgers head coach Steve Pikiell. "We are proud to come together as a basketball community and assist the American Red Cross with its disaster relief efforts."

Tickets for the game are $10, with general admission seating to be employed. Admission is free for Rutgers students. Floor seating is reserved for current men's basketball floor seat holders, who will be emailed further information.

A $10 parking fee will be collected for vehicles accessing the green and yellow lots. The scarlet lot on the south side of the RAC is closed due to construction of the RWJ Barnabas Health Athletic Performance Center at Rutgers University.

Tickets are available online now and by calling at 1-866-445-GORU (4678). Tickets will also be available on gameday at the Rutgers Athletics Ticket Office, located at the RAC.

Net proceeds will be derived from admission and parking fees, concessions and merchandise sales. For additional information on American Red Cross Disaster Relief, visit redcross.org.

Rutgers and St. John's sought and received a waiver from the NCAA to play the extra exhibition game.

The schools have met 41 times during the regular and post-seasons dating back to 1974, with the Red Storm holding a 27-14 advantage in victories. In the last match-up, the Scarlet Knights dropped a 61-59 decision to St. John's at Carnesecca Arena on Nov. 19, 2015, in the inaugural Gavitt Tipoff Games.

The exhibition will be part of a busy weekend "On the Banks," that also features a wrestling and football doubleheader versus Maryland on Saturday (Nov. 4) at High Point Solutions Stadium. The wrestling match will take place at noon and football will kick-off at 3:30 p.m.
