No. 4 Seed Women’s Soccer to Host No. 5 Seed Penn State in Big Ten Tournament Quarterfinals
Oct 26 | Women's Soccer
Match set for 1 p.m. Sunday at Yurcak Field
PISCATAWAY, N.J. – No. 25 Rutgers women's soccer is slated as the fourth seed in the 2017 Big Ten Tournament. Rutgers will host fifth-seeded No. 11 Penn State on Sunday, Oct. 29 for a 1 p.m. match at Yurcak Field.
The Scarlet Knights concluded the regular season with an overall record of 12-2-4 and a Big Ten mark of 6-2-3, while the Nittany Lions finished 10-4-3 overall and 6-2-3 in league action.
RU and PSU both finished conference play with 21 points, with RU earning the final host berth by virtue of the third tiebreaker, which counts the best record by points against mutually-played conference teams seeded above the tied schools at the start of the process (Rutgers had a combined four points against Big Ten regular season champion Ohio State and Northwestern, while Penn State had three points against that pair).
Rutgers will compete in its fourth consecutive Big Ten Tournament since joining the league in 2014. RU meets PSU in the postseason for the third-straight year.
