Women’s Golf Closes Fall Campaign in the Peach State

PISCATAWAY – Women's golf travels to Macon, Ga., to conclude its fall season at the Idle Hour Intercollegiate, hosted by Mercer College, at The Idle Hour Club. After a practice round on Sunday, the Scarlet Knights will play 36 holes on Monday and 18 on Tuesday in the 11-team tournament.
Seniors Emily Mills and Tatum Jackson, sophomore Carrie-Ann Lee, and freshmen Harriet Allsebrook and Lori Char will comprise the RU lineup. Sophomore Ana Cortes will compete individually.
The Scarlet Knights enter the event with a 302.67 scoring average, based on 12 rounds this fall, to rank 49th regionally and 107th nationally per Golfstat. Mills boasts a team-best 75.17 scoring average, with Allsebrook and Jackson averaging 76.42 and 76.67, respectively.
One of Georgia's most prestigious golf clubs, The Idle Hour Club was designed by the legendary Donald Ross and is comprised of beautifully manicured Georgia landscape interspersed with Bent grass greens and Bermuda fairways. The 18-hole golf course sets up as 6,006 yards of challenging play, equating to a par 72 layout.
Rutgers last competed at the Edean Ihlanfeldt Invitational, Oct. 10-11, at Sahalee Country Club in Seattle, Wash. The Scarlet Knights placed seventh with a 616 (305-311-303) total. Mills was RU's top competitor on the 5,980-yard course, finishing tied for 16th in the 63-player field with a 225 (73-74-78).
The Scarlet Knights and host Mercer will be joined by James Madison, Cincinnati, Georgia Southern, Western Kentucky, Samford, Elon, Eastern Kentucky, Troy and North Florida.
Play on Monday and Tuesday will begin with 8:45 a.m. shotgun starts. Live scoring will be available via BirdieFire.
