PISCATAWAY, N.J. – As part of a Saturday doubleheader at High Point Solutions Stadium, Rutgers football will host Maryland in a 3:30 p.m. Big Ten matchup. The Scarlet Knights will debut their "Stadium Lights" adidas alternate football uniform this week, which is centered around an all-black theme inspired by the symbolism of a knight.

here for the out-of-market channel finder. On the radio side, Chris Carlin (play-by-play), Ray Lucas (analyst), Eric LeGrand (analyst) and Anthony Fucilli (sideline) will deliver the action on the Rutgers IMG Sports Network (WCTC 1450-AM, WOR 710-AM, WENJ 97.3-FM, WNJE 920-AM, Sirius 126, XM 196).
Prior to the football game, the RU wrestling team will open its season with a match versus Maryland on the north side of the stadium, starting at noon. The doubleheader at High Point Solutions Stadium is a single, two-for-one ticket, with fans allowed to leave the stadium after the wrestling match and re-enter for the football game.
SCOUTING RUTGERS
The Scarlet Knights will be in search of their third win in four outings, having defeated Illinois and Purdue before falling at Michigan last time out, 35-14. Fifth-year senior
Janarion Grant had a career-long 65-yard rush for a touchdown, while fifth-year senior
Gus Edwards scored for the sixth time this season on a two-yard carry that capped an 11-play, 75-yard drive. Defensively, sophomore
Jawuan Harris picked off his second pass in three games to give Rutgers seven interceptions in league play, tied for the conference lead. RU did not commit a turnover in front of the crowd of 111,213 at Michigan Stadium, making it back-to-back weeks without a giveaway. The last time the Scarlet Knights played consecutive turnover-free games was during a streak of three-straight in 2009 (FIU, at Maryland, Texas Southern).
Junior
Giovanni Rescigno has a 2-1 record as the starting quarterback this season and has not thrown an interception in his last 101 passing attempts dating back to last season. Edwards leads the team with 521 rushing yards, 10
th in the Big Ten, with 600 all-purpose yards, having scored at least one touchdown in three-straight games. Senior
Robert Martin owns 2,111 career rushing yards and needs just 13 more to move into the program top-10 list. In the pass game, junior
Jerome Washington paces the Scarlet Knights with 21 receptions for 196 receiving yards.
On the defensive side of the ball, RU ranks second in the Big Ten and 17
th nationally by having held opponents to a 30-percent clip (35-of-115) on third downs. The unit has 10 interceptions and 43 pass break-ups this season after picking up eight and 42 in 12 games in 2016, respectively. Junior
Kevin Wilkins has a team-high five stops in the backfield, while junior
Trevor Morris is sixth in the conference with 8.3 tackles per game on 66 overall.
Fifth-year senior
Ryan Anderson has re-taken the league lead with 44.3 yards per punt, which is 19
th-best nationally. He has 22 attempts of at least 50 yards six of at least 60. Freshman
Justin Davidovicz heads a kickoff coverage unit that sits 15
th in the country with 17.18 yards allowed per return, improving 90 spots in the rankings from the same point last season.
SCOUTING MARYLAND
The Terrapins snapped a three-game losing streak last week with a 42-39 home victory over Indiana. Maryland previously beat Minnesota in conference play. Max Bortenschlager has started five games at quarterback and has nine touchdowns for the season compared to four interceptions. Ty Johnson is fourth in the Big Ten with 662 rushing yards and has 1,204 all-purpose yards overall, while D.J. Moore is second in the league and 18
th in the country with 93.1 receiving yards per game. He has 51 of the team's 104 catches on the season, including eight touchdowns. Defensively, Antoine Brooks has a team-high 53 tackles, with seven for a loss. Head coach DJ Durkin is in his second season.
THE SERIES
Since both teams joined the Big Ten in 2014, Maryland leads the series, 2-1. Rutgers set a school record with a 25-point comeback in the first conference meeting in College Park in 2014. The Terrapins have won the last two matchups. Overall, Maryland leads the all-time series, 7-5, dating back to 1920. The teams have split six games in Piscataway.
