Women’s Golf Fourth at Idle Hour

MACON, Ga. – Women's golf is fourth with a 622 (312-310) total after the first two rounds of the 12-team Idle Hour Intercollegiate, played Monday at The Idle Hour Club. Senior Tatum Jackson paced the Scarlet Knights on day one with a 154 (79-75) to enter Tuesday's final round tied for 15th in the 69-player field.
Rutgers, which is a single stroke out of third, was a tournament best minus one on par five holes. RU compiled 100 pars and 15 birdies on the par 72, 6,006-yard course.
"We're in a position to move up the leaderboard tomorrow and we look to finish with one of our strongest scores of the season," said head coach Kari Williams.
Jackson has three birdies and 21 pars. She is joined in the top 25 by freshman Harriet Allsebrook and senior co-captain Emily Mills. Allsebrook is tied for 18th with a 155 (76-79) and Mills is tied for 21st with a 156 (79-77). Allsebrook is two-under on par fives with six birdies, while Mills is one-under on par five holes with 22 pars.
Sophomore Carrie-Ann Lee (79-79) and freshman Lori Char (78-80) are tied for 30th with 158 totals to complete the team scorecard. Sophomore Ana Cortes, competing individually, is tied for 52nd with a 164 (81-83).
Host Mercer and Western Kentucky are tied for the lead with 603 scores. Troy in the show position after carding a 621. Eastern Kentucky's Hannabeth Owens is atop the individual leaderboard with a one-under 143 (71-72).
The Scarlet Knights enter the final round ahead of Eastern Kentucky, Cincinnati, James Madison, Elon, North Florida, Mercer-B, Samford and Georgia Southern.
Tuesday's final round begins with an 8:45 a.m. shotgun start. Live scoring is available via BirdieFire.
