IOWA CITY, IOWA – Despite six saves for redshirt junior
Casey Murphy in the match, No. 23 Rutgers women's soccer was edged by Iowa, 1-0, on the road Thursday night.
Rutgers (9-2-2, 3-2-1 Big Ten) and Iowa (6-5-1, 1-3-1 Big Ten) played through an even first half, as Murphy and Iowa's goalkeeper Claire Graves each posted two saves to keep the score 0-0 at halftime.

Although Rutgers would find the back of the net in the 52nd minute, the goal would later be called back due to an offside on the Scarlet Knights.
In the 60
th minute, Iowa took a 1-0 lead after Hawkeye Devin Burns shot from 18-yards out, sneaking the ball by an outstretched Murphy into the upper left corner.

The Scarlet Knights tallied a couple shots on goal throughout the remainder of the contest, as shots for sophomores
Nicole Whitley and
Carina Hendley were saved by Iowa's Graves. Rutgers never relented though. With a corner kick in the 89
th minute, sophomore midfielder
Amanda Visco fired off a shot. However, it would go just high of the cross bar.

KNIGHT NOTES
- Rutgers suffered just its second loss of the season and first on the road this year. The Scarlet Knights are now 2-1-2 in road matches this year.
- Iowa's goal was just the fourth goal allowed by the Scarlet Knights this season.
- Casey Murphy matched her season high with six saves, bringing her season total to 40 saves. The goalkeeper maintains a 0.30 GAA and 0.909 save percentage on the year.
