- Rutgers fell to Penn State in the fourth Big Ten meeting between the programs. It was the 28th contest all-time and the 17th at Beaver Stadium.
- The attendance of 107,531 marked the third-largest crowd to witness a Ruggers football game. The top five have all occurred since the Scarlet Knights joined the Big Ten in 2014.
- Lawrence Stevens claimed the live ball off the opening kickoff for Rutgers' first recovered on-side kick since 2012 at USF.
- Rutgers held the ball for 10:25 in the first quarter, its third quarter of at least 10 minutes of possession this season. The previous two were in the season opener versus Washington.
- Rutgers scored first on an Andrew Harte field goal to become the first team to take a first-quarter lead on Penn State this season. The Nittany Lions were the last FBS team to not trail in the first quarter in 2017. (@ESPNStatsInfo)
- Rutgers took a 6-0 advantage on an Andrew Harte field goal in the second quarter to cap a 15-play, 7:25 drive. It was the longest drive of the season by plays and time for the Scarlet Knights.
- The offense allowed just one sack and has permitted one or less sacks in 9-of-10 games this season.
- Rutgers held Penn State to 90 rushing yards, making it the fourth time this season an opponent has rushed for less than 100 yards in a game.
- The game lasted two hours, 51 minutes, the first Rutgers game to span less than three hours since the 2010 contest versus Tulane (2:52).

- WR/DB Dacoven Bailey
- Picked up a sack for a 12-yard loss on defense, collected a tackle on punt coverage and also recorded a four-yard reception on offense. He has now played in all three phases of the game in two contests this season.
- DL Jon Bateky
- Collected a sack in the first half. Now has 2.0 career sacks.
- WR Janarion Grant
- With a 29-yard kickoff return in the third quarter, now has 100 career plays gaining 20 or more yards.
- WR Mohamed Jabbie
- Reeled in a 12-yard catch on a third-and-nine for first career reception on the last play of the first quarter.
- PK Andrew Harte
- Connected on two field goals for second game with multiple conversions this season (Eastern Michigan).
- Now 7-for-10 on field goal attempts this season.
- QB Giovanni Rescigno
- Led the team with a career-high 57 rushing yards.
- LB Deonte Roberts
- Paced the team with nine tackles on defense. Has now tied or led the team in tackles in eight career games.
- DB Kiy Hester
- Add one pass break-ups to make it a team-best 13 passes defended this season.
- DL Kevin Wilkins
- Totaled a career-high six tackles.
