Murphy Named Scholar All-American
Dec 14 | Women's Soccer
KANSAS CITY, MO. - Redshirt junior goalkeeper Casey Murphy added another honor to her resume being named to the Scholar All-America First Team by United Soccer Coaches.
Student-athletes receiving Scholar All-America recognition at the NCAA Division I level achieved a 3.30 cumulative grade point average or better throughout their career, while also contributing significantly to their team. Murphy collects Scholar All-American laurels after also being named to the Scholar All-East Region First Team and an Academic All-Big Ten honoree.
Additionally, Murphy was inducted into Chi Alpha Sigma Society this season. Chi Alpha Sigma is the first national scholar-athlete society to honor collegiate student-athletes who have excelled in both the classroom and in athletic competition
Murphy, a 2017 MAC Hermann Trophy Semifinalist, was tabbed a First Team All-American by United Soccer Coaches last month. The 2017 Big Ten Goalkeeper of the year also earned First Team All-Big Ten recognition.
Players on this year's Scholar All-America Teams will be formally acknowledged for their accomplishments on the field and in the classroom at the All-America Luncheon in January at the Pennsylvania Convention Center in conjunction with the 2018 United Soccer Coaches Convention.
