Men's Soccer Places 10 On B1G All-Academic Team
Dec 06 | Men's Soccer
"Receiving a top-notch education and earning a degree from one of the top schools in the country is a priority we place on all student-athletes that come to Rutgers," said head coach Dan Donigan. "Our entire staff is proud of our accomplishments in the classroom and the continued academic success by the members of our team year after year. Ten or more of our guys have received conference academic honors in the last three seasons while the team has been honored by the United Soccer Coaches in six of the last seven seasons for its GPA.
I am very proud of our guys and would also like to thank Executive Director of Academic Support Services, Scott Walker, and our academic advisor, John Paxton, along with their tutors and academic staff for playing a part in our notable academic achievements."

To be eligible for Academic All-Big Ten selection, students must be on a varsity team, as verified by being on the official squad list as of Nov. 1 for fall sports, who have been enrolled fulltime at the institution for a minimum of 12 months and carry a cumulative grade-point average of 3.0 or higher. Honorees listed in bold achieved a 4.0 grade-point average.
Junior goalkeepers Joe Bruno, an electrical & computer engineering major, and Brian Shushkovsky, a finance major, were the only two student-athletes at Rutgers and in Big Ten men's soccer to earn unblemished cumulative GPAs. The two Scarlet Knights were among 18 of the 1,253 student-athletes across the Big Ten on the all-academic team to achieve 4.0 grade-point averages.
