Women's Lax Levels Leopards, 15-10

EASTON, Pa. - Rutgers women's lacrosse downed Lafayette, 15-10, Tuesday night for its second-straight win and first on the road this season. Senior captain Amanda Turturro spearheaded the attack with a career-high six points on four goals and two assists.

RU (2-1) held the Leopards (2-1) off the board in the final 17:04 minutes of the game and scored six of the last seven goals in the contest en route to a season-high 15 goals. The Scarlet Knights took a one-goal lead, 10-9, with 17:55 on the clock on a goal from Turturro and did not look back.

After Lafayette drew to within one, 11-10, on a goal from its leading scorer Kirsten Wilhelmsen, RU rattled off a four-goal run with finishes from Kristina Dunphey, Kerri Puckhaber, Abbey Brooks and Turturro's fourth goal of the game.

Brooks and Dunphey finished tied for second in production with freshman Samantha Budd by registering three points Tuesday night. Redshirt junior Nicole Kopyta score two goals for the third-straight game.

Bianca Dente allowed a season-low 10 goals in a 12-save outing Tuesday for her second consecutive victory.

The Scarlet Knights are back at it Saturday at Delaware at 3 p.m.

GAME NOTES
• Rutgers is off to a 2-1 start for the first time since 2014.
• The Scarlet Knights won their eighth in nine contests against Lafayette.
• RU won its second-straight game to start 2017and is 5-2 in its last seven games dating back to the end of last season.
• Turturro leads the Scarlet Knights with 10 points (7g, 3a). Behind her are five players tied for second with seven points.
• Kopyta scored two goals for the third-straight game and is second on the team with six.
• Budd had another big game just three contests into her career. The rookie totaled three points with a team-high five draw controls and two ground balls.
