Mills Receives Big Ten Sportsmanship Award

PISCATAWAY, N.J. - The Big Ten Conference office announced women's golf postseason honors on Tuesday and Rutgers junior Emily Mills was selected as a Sportsmanship Award recipient.
A two-time team captain who competes in first position for the Scarlet Knights, Mills led the team with a 75.60 scoring average this past season. She had eight top 25 finishes in 10 tournaments, including five top 15 performances. Mills began the 2016-17 season by winning the Rutgers Invitational with a 220 (74-71-75) in September and concluded it with a 226 (74-79-73) to place 23rd in the 83-player field at the Big Ten Championship.
In addition to excelling on the course, Mills also makes an impact in the classroom and community. A two-time WGCA All-American Scholar as a Cell Biology & Neuroscience major in the School of Arts and Sciences Honors Program, she has been honored as a Big Ten Distinguished Scholar and with the Rutgers Academic Excellence Award.
In the community, The Colts Neck, N.J. native has completed 100+ hours of individual service. Among the organizations she has volunteered with are Embrace Kids Foundation, Elijah's Promise soup kitchen, Rutgers DOORS, Rutgers Big Chill, Special Olympics of New Jersey and the First Tee of New Jersey.
