Softball Closes Regular Season with No. 19 Michigan

PISCATAWAY, N.J. - The Rutgers softball team closes out its regular season with a three-game series against No. 19 Michigan from May 5-7 at the RU Softball Complex.
The Scarlet Knights will honor the 2017 graduating class - Bridget Carr, Dana Hendry, Aubrie Levine, Shayla Sweeney, and Carly Todd- in a pregame ceremony on Saturday, May 6.

RU'S LAST TIME OUT
Rutgers (14-34, 5-15 Big Ten) split its doubleheader with Maryland on Wednesday afternoon. The Scarlet Knights fell by a score of 4-3 in the opening contest before claiming a 4-3 win over the Terrapins in the second.
Junior Rebecca Hall led RU with a 3-for-3 performance in the win, including her 12th home run of the season. Hall ranks sixth in the Big Ten in home runs and fourth in RBIs (46). Sweeney picked up her 10th win of the season, while sophomore Whitney Jones earned her second career save.
Freshman Taryn Atlee continues to lead the conference with 64 hits this season, while also ranking seventh with a .395 batting average. Atlee ranks eighth with a .388 average in conference games only.
SCOUTING NO. 19 MICHIGAN
Michigan (38-10-1, 17-3 Big Ten) enters the series on a six-game winning streak. UM swept Indiana over the weekend before picking up a nonconference win over Western Michigan on Tuesday.
The Wolverines rank second in the league in team batting average (.319) and team ERA (1.59). Leading the lineup is Kelly Christner with a .401 hitting clip, including 55 hits and 35 RBIs. In the circle, Megan Betsa owns a team-best 1.24 ERA in 197.0 innings, along with a conference-leading 353 strikeouts.
SERIES VERSUS THE WOLVERINES
Michigan has proven victorious in all 10 matchups between the programs dating back to 1983. The Scarlet Knights and Wolverines have met six times as conference foes during that span.
