Scarlet Knights To Compete at Red Raiders New Facility
PISCATAWAY, N.J. – The Rutgers women's indoor track & field squad heads down to Lubbock, Texas for the Texas Tech Invitational at the Red Raider's new Sports Performance Center. Field events kickoff at 10 a.m. with running events starting at 11 a.m.
Joining the Scarlet Knights in competition will be McMurry, Miami, Oral Roberts, SMU, Stephen F. Austin, TCU, Texas A&M Corpus Christi, Texas Southern and UTSA.
LAST TIME OUT:
The Scarlet Knights kicked off the 2018 indoor campaign capturing the Towson Tiger Invitational Title with six event victories.
Junior transfer Oniesha Clarke made her Rutgers debut racing to a time of 7.44 in the 60m, placing her name third all-time in the Scarlet Knights record books. Her finish is also second among Big Ten competitors in the event and tied for 38th nationally.
Senior Bria Saunders continued to be a strong presence in the 200m, winning the event in 24.94.
Meanwhile, Phyllis Gordon raced in the 500m for the first time in her career and crossed the finish line in first place in 1:15.88.
Rutgers also earned two middle-distance crowns last weekend. Veteran Sarah Robbie won the 800m in 2:14.70 and freshman Olympia Martin, one of RU's top cross country performers in the fall, collected her first indoor title in the mile in 5:03.99
Another freshman in Courteney Campbell led the Scarlet Knights in the field taking home the high jump title. Her mark of 1.70m (5' 7") is currently tied for ninth among her Big Ten peers.
