Scarlet Knights Take On The League Leading Terps at 7 p.m.
PISCATAWAY, N.J. - It's the first of two meetings with the Terps as the Rutgers women's basketball team takes on No. 11/10 Maryland on Thursday at 7 p.m. The game will be streamed on BTN Plus with coverage also available from the Rutgers IMG Radio Network with Ralph Bednarczyk and Mark Peterson on the call.
GETTING BACK ON TRACK
The Rutgers women's basketball team is looking to get back on track after dropping three-straight as they battle No. 11/10 Maryland in the first of two meetings with the Terrapins.
On Saturday at Indiana, the Scarlet Knights overcame an early nine-point third quarter deficit to power back to a 49-43 edge moments before the end of the frame. Midway through the fourth quarter, the only points came off two Indiana free throws as RU held on to a 49-48 edge. The Hoosiers' Amanda Cahill notched the quarter's first field goal with 3:28 to go on a 3-pointer putting the Hoosiers back on top at 51-49.
Redshirt senior guard Tyler Scaife knotted the score at 51-51 on a putback that bounced around the rim and in on the following possession, but Indiana would control the lead the rest of the way capitalizing on a Buss 3-pointer and 10 made free throws.
Scaife finished with 17 points while junior guard Khadaizha Sanders scored all 10 of her points in the third quarter turnaround.
ABOUT MARYLAND
The league leading Terps welcome the Scarlet Knights sporting an 18-3 overall mark and 7-1 record in league play. Maryland's lone blemish in Big Ten play came with an 82-68 loss to Michigan State on Jan. 11. Since the loss to the Spartans, the Terps have won three-straight including a 99-69 victory over then-No. 8 Ohio State at home and a 68-65 win at Northwestern last Thursday.
Maryland is the Big Ten's third leading offense averaging 85.1 points per game and leads the league in scoring margin with an average victory of 22.7 points. The Terps are also right behind the Scarlet Knights in the steals category ranking second in the Big Ten at 11.0 thefts per contest.
Seven Terps are averaging double figures led by sophomore Kaila Charles at 17.8 points and 7.9 rebounds per game. Charles is eighth among her Big Ten peers in scoring and 10th in the rebounding department.
Next on the Maryland stat sheet is sophomore guard Blair Watson at 13.8 points per outing. Watson is also second in the conference in 3-point field goal percentage knocking down an average of 3.7 shots from downtown at .441 clip.
STRINGER MILESTONE NUMBERS TO REMEMBER
Rutgers head coach Stringer has compiled a 994-396 career record in 47 seasons and is six wins away from joining the elite 1,000 career victories club in women's basketball.
Stringer's 34 20-win seasons are second-best in women's basketball history. Former Tennessee head coach Pat Summit leads all coaches with 36 20-win seasons.
SCAIFE MILESTONE NUMBERS TO REMEMBER
Tyler Scaife's game-high 24 points in 23 minutes against Princeton on Dec. 13 propelled the redshirt senior into third place on the Rutgers all-time scoring leader list past former teammate Kahleah Copper (2012-16).
In the next game on Dec. 16, Scaife's steal leading to behind the back bucket that was featured on ESPNW's Top Ten Plays of the Week, pushed her past the 1,900 career point mark.
With nine points at Purdue on Jan. 10, Scaife became the third Scarlet Knight to collect over 2,000 career points joining Rutgers greats Sue Wicks and Cappie Pondexter in the club.
Scaife currently needs 133 more to move into second place on the all-time list past Cappie Pondexter (2002-2006).
Scaife has scored 468 points this season and kicked off the 2017-18 campaign 10th all-time in scoring.

Rutgers has appeared in the Top 25 polls this season for the first time since the 2014-15 season.
The Scarlet Knights cracked the top 25 of the Associated Press Poll in the week nine poll on Jan. 8 checking in at No. 21. It was RU's first appearance in the AP's rankings since March 2, 2015.
Rutgers came in at No. 25 in the ESPN/USA Today Coaches Poll on week eight on Jan. 2 and has ranked as high as No. 19. It was the Scarlet Knights first appearance since ranking at No. 23 in the final poll of the 2014-15 season.

TOP 16 REVEAL
The NCAA Division I Women's Basketball Committee will reveal its second top-16 rankings on Thursday. In the first rankings released on Jan. 18 had the Scarlet Knights listed at No. 15.
The Jan. 18 ranking was the first of three top-16 rankings that will be revealed by the committee during the 2017-18 regular season. In addition, two other top-16 reveals are scheduled this season to take place on Thurs., February 1 and Monday, Feb. 19.
