PISCATAWAY, N.J. – No. 14 Rutgers field hockey will be on the road to take on two Big Ten foes this weekend. They play No. 15 Northwestern on Friday before travelling to Indiana on Sunday afternoon. Both games will be streamed live on BTN Plus.
The Scarlet Knights are 9-4 on the season overall and 1-4 in the Big Ten. They have six shutouts on the season, which is the sixth best in the nation.
Daphne Groothuis is third in the nation and second in the Big Ten in assists per game (0.85). She is also third in the conference in points per game (2.08).
Gianna Glatz has a 0.778 save percentage which is ninth best in the nation.
Linde van Schaik has 16 points on the season, which is second best on the team behind Groothuis, who has 27. Freshman
Tayla Parkes has scored a goal in two consecutive games.
Northwestern comes into the matchup 8-6 overall and 3-2 in the Big Ten. Rutgers will be their 10
th matchup this season against ranked opponents. They are coming off a 2-1 loss against Ohio State last weekend. The Wildcats average 2.43 assists per game which is fourth in the conference. Annie Kalfas is averaging 3.08 saves per game which is fifth best in the conference.
RU is 0-5 all-time versus Northwestern, facing them twice last season in Evanston, including a matchup in the Big Ten Tournament.
Indiana enters the weekend 4-9 overall and 1-4 in the Big Ten. Indiana will face No. 2 Maryland at home on Friday before facing RU on Sunday. Kelsi Giese leads the team with eight points on the season. Sachi Ananias leads the team with 28 saves on the season.
The Scarlet Knights lead all-time series against IU 5-2 after claiming a 2-0 win last season in the Big Ten opener.
