Men’s Golf Fifth after First Day of Chatham Hills Collegiate

Jiang tied for ninth after five-under-par 67 in round two
WESTFIELD, Ind. – Junior Tony Jiang carded a five-under-par 67 in the second round as Rutgers men's golf sits in fifth after the first day of the Chatham Hills Collegiate on Sunday in Westfield, Indiana. The Scarlet Knights are currently two-under-par (287-287=574) with one round to play at the Club at Chatham Hills.
Jiang is tied for ninth in the field heading into tomorrow's third round. Jiang led RU with 11 birdies in his two rounds, tied for second overall. Rookie Shayler Dance, who fired off a four-under-par 68 in the opening round, co-leads the field with two eagles.
Round 2
Jiang produced one of his best 18-hole performances of the fall season, as he used seven birdies in the second round to finish with a five-under-par 67. Jiang birdied holes one, five, six, eight, nine, 13 and 18 and added nine pars during his impressive outing, as he moved up 31 spots on the leaderboard.
Sophomore Oliver Whatley also shined in the second round with a two-under-par 70, as he carded birdies on holes six, 11 and 12 to go along with 14 pars. Whatley moved up 11 positions and is now tied for 12th.
Round 1
It was all Dance in the opening round, as the rookie finished with a four-under-par 68. The Dallas native collected two eagles on holes 13 and 17, both par-5 holes, and also added birdies on holes four and five. Whatley finished the first round at even par with two birdies and 14 pars.
